Richard C. Campos is the Chief Operating Officer of Big Bang Broadband LLC. In this capacity, Rick manages the client relationship within the context of project scope, progress and BBB performance for all BBB projects. Rick has an extensive 36-years of experience in the electric utility business and municipal operations. He has directed the activities of many areas including safety, purchased power, engineering, operations, broadband, energy services, public affairs, stores/warehousing, metering, and fleet departments.
Prior to his role with BBB, Mr. Campos was the Chief Operating Officer of Mohave Electric Cooperative in Bullhead City Arizona, after serving as the cooperative’s Manager of Engineering and Operations. Mr. Campos’s prior years were at Inland Power & Light Company in Spokane Washington where he was the Superintendent of Operations and the Compliance Coordinator, Engineering.
Mr. Campos started his career with the Department of Water & Power in Los Angeles California where he had gained experience in many disciplines from warehousing, materials and services procurement, electrical equipment testing, substation/converter station maintenance, and ultimately completing an apprenticeship to become a journeyman Lineman in his early, practical as well as managerial development.
Rick’s broad and deep experience has given him extensive management skills. His work has included the management and coordination of many special projects including, renewable energy (generation/storage), power conservation, automated metering infrastructure, electric vehicle infrastructure, fiber-optic systems (including broadband/phone services), various utility management software applications, addressing member concerns, public utility commission correspondence and filings, public meetings, and media communications. All this and more while remaining responsible for supervising staff such as department managers and supervisors, assistant superintendents, electrical craft personnel, dispatch, safety director, public affairs, energy management, fleet management, purchasing, warehousing, rights-of-ways and vegetation management programs and maintenance, avian protection, waste disposal, contract administration, purchase power planning, agreements, and budgets.
Throughout his career Mr. Campos worked personally with many Federal, State, and local Government agencies including but not limited to USDA/RUS, FEMA, EPA, US Fish and Wildlife, US Department of Labor, US Corps of Engineers, US Coast Guard, Arizona State and Washington State Department of Commerce and Department of Ecology, the Arizona Governor’s office and staff, the Arizona State legislators, the Arizona Corporation Commission, the City of Bullhead City Mayor, Business Manager, staff, and the Mohave County Board of Supervisors and staff.
In the cooperative spirit, Rick is also quite active within the community. He is a past member of the Board of Directors at General Pacific, Inc. (GenPac), a leading wholesale stocking electric and water distributor in Fairview Oregon and currently participates as a member of the Board of Directors for the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce, sits on the local business and government affairs committee, and volunteers at many community events.
